MMM Corones, the museum of Reinhold Messner at Plan de Corones

Reinhold Messner has defined the ambitious project concerning the chain of South Tyrol Museums as "his fifteenth eight-thousander". The latest addition is the Messner Mountain Museum Corones and is raised these days from the eaves.
With the star architect Zaha Hadid and the Kronplatz Skirama the now legendary mountaineer has launched a successful team, which has already conquered several stages in the complex "rise" and leading directly to the realization of the sixth Messner Mountain Museum called Corones, situated directly on the mountain top.

On the upper floor there is the entrance area with the cash, a small museum shop and lockers. From here, a waterfall staircase system leads visitors to the underlying three exhibition levels, down to the lowest level. A central exhibition space, which is the centerpiece of the museum, provides enough space for temporary thematic exhibitions and various presentations.

On the lower level of the building, visitors encounter on their way panoramic windows until they reach a terrace of approximately 40 square meters, from which they can enjoy the magnificent 240 ° panoramic view, which offers views from the Zillertal Alps, over the Ortles to the Dolomite ranges.
Thus, the symbiosis between the mountains and the Museum theme is reinforced; gigantic rock walls that embody the discipline of mountaineering.
At this level, a small cinema with 20 seats will be provided for the projection of thematic films.
The opening of the Messner Mountain Museum Corones is planned for summer 2014.
