Plan de Corones / Kronplatz

The Plan de Corones, also known as "the cake" for its distinctive shape, has its origins in the Ice Age. The Ladin name "plane of the crowns" describes the magnificent 360°degree panorama that can be enjoyed from its summit, at 2,275 m, of the peaks, the surrounding crowns. Towards the north the peaks of the Alps on the border with Austria and Switzerland, and to the south the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Dolomites. At 2,080 meters on the dolomite side, kissed by the sun, is the charming mountain lodge Graziani.
The Plan de Corones offers numerous opportunities for walking in the summer whereas in the winter it represents the most important ski district of South Tyrol.
